With a background in finance and real estate, King took on the tall challenge of trying to bring investment to the long-neglected West Baltimore neighborhood where he had purchased a home a decade earlier. His CDC rolled out a top-notch master plan for Harlem Park in June, to develop and execute community-focused initiatives to obtain nutritional foods, securing safe housing options, decreasing crime, and building youth development programs to produce financial literacy, affordable housing, and health-related initiatives that are easily accessible to the residents in Harlem Park and West Baltimore. Creating a master plan for the Harlem Park Community with a long-term vision for future economic development to ensure financing, funding, and investment in West Baltimore. In partnership with the Harlem Park Community Development corporation, local design firm, Ayers Saint Gross, will help facilitate this effort.
