Session Three -

Rights in Markets & Democracy

We are about to exercise a defining feature of our democratic system -- the right to vote. What is the relationship between the rights of the democratic system and the rights of the marketplace? This talk will explore that question.

Steven Scalet is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Hoffberger Center for Ethical Engagement. Scalet received his PhD in philosophy and MA in economics from the University of Arizona. Scalet is the author of Markets, Ethics, and Business Ethics. Third Edition (Routledge, 2025), and Morality and Moral Controversies: Readings in Moral, Social, and Political Philosophy, Editor, 10th Edition (Routledge, 2019).
