Inspiring and Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders in Government and Nonprofit Service
The NextGen Leaders for Public Service Program provides paid internships, professional development, and leadership opportunities for students interested in careers in public service. Students from all majors/degrees may participate in the program to learn more about public service careers. As part of the program, paid internships are available in Maryland government and nonprofit organizations across the state. NextGen students are matched with public service positions that provide professional work experience and advance career preparation. NextGen students also participate in workshops, conferences, and other events as a part of the national network for the Next Generation Service Corps.
Eligible students: Current juniors, seniors or graduate students in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or better) who are available to work a minimum of eight hours per week at the internship host organization and have a strong interest in public service. Students commit to participation in NextGen activities and the completion of at least one paid internship in a state or local government agency or a nonprofit organization in Maryland. UBalt students may also participate in the national network of the Next Generation Service Corps.
