School of Criminal Justice Open House Highlights: CJFSS Showcases Vibrant Community and Opportunities
On March 8th, 2024, the Criminal Justice and Forensics Studies Society (CJFSS) proudly participated in the University of Baltimore's School of Criminal Justice Open House event, extending a warm welcome to prospective new students and transfer students eager to explore our esteemed institution. From 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, our society members immersed themselves in showcasing the vibrant community and opportunities available within our department.
The event, led by our dedicated faculty staff and esteemed professors; Ioan Marginean (CFJSS primary advisor) , Patricia Hall, Lexi Wick, among others, ushered students into our academic programs, academic assistance, Finincial assistance opportunities, and perks you enjoy when you enroll. The CJFSS leadership guided guests through various stations, providing valuable insights into our programs, sharing personal experiences, and engaging in insightful conversations about the dynamic field of criminal justice and forensic studies.
In addition to informative discussions, featured engaging activities designed to offer hands-on experiences to our guests. One highlight was the encryption activity, where students were paired up and tasked with creating and decrypting coded messages using encryption techniques—a thrilling demonstration of the critical skills honed within our program.
Furthermore, guests had the opportunity to explore our state-of-the-art facilities, including the Forensic Lab and Crime Scene Room, where they witnessed firsthand the practical application of forensic techniques in criminal investigations. Additionally, our Cyber Forensic Lab showcased cutting-edge technology and methodologies used to combat cybercrime—a testament to our commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in the field.
Throughout the event, guests were treated to refreshments, fostering a welcoming atmosphere and encouraging meaningful connections between current students, faculty, and prospective members of our community. These interactions not only provided guests with valuable insights but also exemplified the supportive and inclusive environment that defines our department.
