Please join Active Minds for a Fireside Chat with Kevin Shird. Kevin Shird is an accomplished author, advocate, and community leader based in Baltimore. His published works include A Life for a Life: Poor Choices and Unresolved Trauma is Killing America (2025), The Colored Waiting Room: Conversations Between an MLK Jr. Confidant and a Modern-Day Activist (2018), Uprising in the City (2016), and Lessons of Redemption (2014). Known for his dedication to criminal justice reform and youth empowerment, Kevin draws from his own experiences with the criminal justice system to inspire and educate.

Kevin regularly lectures at colleges and universities across the U.S., addressing essential topics such as public health policy and mass incarceration. His expertise led him to collaborate with the White House Office on National Drug Control Policy and President Obama’s Clemency Project, where he made significant contributions to drug policy and criminal justice reform.
